Managing Partner
Neil Goradia
Neil Goradia is a skilled real estate executive with almost 20 years’ experience working across a variety of platforms, including market rate apartments, affordable housing and public/private partnerships. Neil is an expert in entitlements, project design and development, having overseen in excess of $500M of development projects throughout his career.
Neil has focused his efforts in the Mid-Atlantic region where he has acquired, entitled and developed projects in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. Working for a national multifamily builder, Neil spearheaded its development activities in Maryland where he developed two mixed-use developments with over 500 market rate apartment units and ground floor retail. More recently Neil was responsible for the acquisition, assemblage, entitlement and sale of multiple Class-A development parcels in downtown Bethesda in Montgomery County, MD. Additionally, Neil has worked on several mixed-use and residential developments in Virginia including Fairfax County, Prince William County and the City of Alexandria, successfully navigating the unique jurisdictional regulatory and permitting requirements to bring these complex projects to completion.
In 2008, Neil was recruited by the District of Columbia Mayor, Adrian Fenty, to join the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). During his tenure at DMPED, Neil oversaw a $1B real estate portfolio that included land dispositions and leases, Tax Exempt Bonds, New Market Tax Credits and Low-income Housing Tax Credits.
After leaving the Office of the Deputy Mayor, Neil leveraged his experience to develop an affordable senior housing project in Ward 5 of the District of Columbia. The project employed the use of tax-exempt bonds with an $11m contribution from the DC’s Housing Production Trust Fund, 4% tax credits and tax credit equity to develop 65 affordable senior housing apartments.
Neil holds an M.B.A. from Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate and a B.S. from James Madison University. He lives in Bethesda, MD with his wife Alison and their two children.

Bruce Hurd
Bruce Hurd has a long and diverse career in finance, investment banking and the capital markets. Bruce started his professional career at Credit Suisse on Wall Street as an investment banker responsible for the structuring, underwriting, and syndicating of large industrial projects. These projects included power plants, gold mines, toll roads, and paper mills in both domestic and international markets. At Credit Suisse, Bruce oversaw the execution and syndication of over $2 billion in new projects and the mergers and acquisitions of independent power companies.
Bruce later served as a Senior Vice President at GE Capital where he specialized in the structuring, underwriting, and syndicating of international financial transactions. These syndications included the purchases of defaulted loan portfolios, offshore petroleum production equipment financing structured to minimize tax exposure, and tax advantaged loans to middle market manufacturing plants on the US/Mexican border.
In 2000 Bruce joined Optiglobe Communications and focused on the financing and development of data centers in Central and South America. Financings included cross border loans from tax havens, and domestic bond financings to hedge foreign currency exchange risks.
In 2002 Bruce co-founded NOVO Properties (“NOVO”), a Washington, DC based real estate development, management and investment firm. At NOVO, Bruce is responsible for corporate governance, risk management, capital formation and finance. Mr. Hurd brought his years of experience on Wall Street and the global financial markets to provide critical corporate controls, risk management and sophisticated capital structuring to NOVO and its portfolio of properties. Bruce oversees all company accounting and is the lead on property and corporate finance decisions. Mr. Hurd has spent years building up internal controls and developed a culture of calculated risk taking with a focus on protecting and growing invested capital.
Bruce earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Vermont and a master’s of business administration (finance & corporate strategy) from the University of Michigan.
Bruce and his wife, Lucy, divide their time between Steamboat, Colorado and Washington, DC.

Greg Selfridge
Greg Selfridge is a seasoned real estate professional with years of experience in project entitlements, construction, capital structuring and finance. As a Managing Partner of NOVO Properties, Greg is responsible for corporate strategy, acquisitions and marketing. While at NOVO, Greg has overseen the acquisition, rehabilitation, and management of over $250M in multifamily real estate assets including repositioning, value-add and ground up development.
Greg has a strong background in entitlements and project structuring. As mayoral appointee, Mr. Selfridge served on the District of Columbia Zoning Commission from 2008-2009. As one of only three mayoral appointees, he oversaw large-scale developments, including PUD’s, Campus Plans, and Master Planned developments throughout the District of Columbia. Greg also participated and helped to direct the District of Columbia Zoning Code rewrite, the first major modification of the zoning code since its enactment in 1958.
Greg has leveraged his experience zoning and regulations to become an expert in the DC Tenants Opportunity to Purchase Act, an arcane local regulation that allows tenants in DC to form associations to purchase properties. Mr. Selfridge has become a sought-out partner by tenant groups, housing advocates and their attorneys to purchase and rehabilitate existing multi-family projects in the District of Columbia.
Prior to his career in real estate development, Greg worked on Capitol Hill as a federal lobbyist where he worked on issues such as privacy, telecom regulation and labor related issues. This experience has given Greg a keen insight into the regulatory, legislative and political risks inherent in any re-development project. Greg uses this insight to identify risks and opportunities when assessing any potential real estate transaction.
Greg is a local Washington area native and graduated From the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s in science in finance. He lives on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC with his wife and two children.

Michelle Reed
Michelle Reed, Vice President – Management Services, has over 35 years of multifamily property management experience. Michelle leads a team of 43 associates and directs the operations for the 46 multifamily properties NOVO currently has under management. Michelle has successfully secured third-party management contracts for eight properties since she joined NOVO in 2020.
Prior to joining NOVO, Michelle was the Vice President of Management Services for Avison Young – Washington, D.C., a Canada based Real Estate Company who manages, leases, acquires and operates properties throughout the world. During her five-year tenure at Avison Young, she was responsible for overseeing the operations of the multifamily portfolio based in Montgomery County, Maryland. She also worked for McShea Residential Services as Vice President – Portfolio Manager for more than ten years, where she was responsible for the multifamily portfolio in Montgomery County until the purchase of McShea by Avison Young in 2014. Prior to joining McShea, Michelle had also worked for Summit Properties (now Camden), a real estate investment trust based in North Carolina. She started her career with LCOR, a multifamily management and development firm based in Bethesda, MD.
Michelle has been active in the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) through the local chapter; West Central Chapter 92. She served on the board of directors from 2008 through 2015. She was President of the Chapter 2013-2014. She also served on the IREM Region 3 Education Committee (DC, MD, VA) for three years and was Chair of the Committee 2014-2015. She secured numerous awards from IREM, including Accredited Residential Manager of the Year, Past President’s Award, Certified Property Manager of the Year, and a Distinguished Service Award.
Michelle graduated from Montgomery College in Maryland with an associate degree in business management. She continued her education through the Institute of Real Estate Management, securing two designations: Accredited Residential Manager and Certified Property Manager. She was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland and currently residents in Frederick, Maryland with her two daughters.

Nicole Coates
Nicole Coates, Vice President of Accounting, has over 25 years of financial experience in commercial and residential real estate. Nicole oversees monthly and quarterly reporting, annual audits, budgeting and forecasting, preparation of tax return workpapers, cash management, distribution projections, property due diligence and investor relations support. Nicole has built and developed successful teams with her management expertise in accounting, budgeting, analytics and process improvements.
Prior to joining NOVO, Nicole was the Controller at Carr Properties, a Real Estate Investment Trust that acquires, develops, leases and operates offices in DC, MD and VA. During her ten-year tenure at Carr Properties, she was responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations and its internal and external financial reporting. She also worked for Vornado Realty and Mills Corporation where she was responsible for internal and external financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management for commercial and development properties.
Nicole graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is a Washingtonian that currently lives in Bowie, MD where she raised her 3 children.

Cianna Dennis
Cianna Dennis is the Regional Director of Property Management at NOVO Properties. Cianna directs and oversees all aspects of the daily portfolio operations at NOVO. She plays an integral role with NOVO Ownership, third party clients and on-site teams to maximize operational performance while ensuring a high level of customer service and increasing revenue within NOVO’s portfolio.
Cianna began her career in property management in 1989 and has since worked within various onsite and corporate level regional roles within a multitude of markets prior to joining NOVO in 2023. Cianna has extensive and diverse experience in all facets of operations including lease up, acquisitions, repositioning and disposition of assets. She approaches all projects with precision and is results driven.
Cianna has an associate degree in business management from Howard Community College.

Loreen Goldstein
Loreen Goldstein has worked in various aspects of the real estate investment and management business. From leasing to operations, marketing and investor relations and communications, Loreen possesses a keen insight into the innerworkings of a successful real estate investment and operating company.
Loreen is the Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications for NOVO Properties (“NOVO”). As Director of Investor Relations, Loreen is responsible for managing all investor communications, including new project subscriptions and capital calls, the calculation of Net Asset Values, generating and distributing quarterly investor position reports, the allocation of project distributions and ensuring timely and accurate financial and tax reporting. Loreen is also responsible for the selection, implementation, and the ongoing management of NOVO’s investor portal, where investors can access real-time data related to their current investments.
Loreen has previous experience in the private equity space when she worked at New Heights Research where she performed due diligence for PE firms seeking target acquisitions. This experience provided Loreen with insight into the gathering, synthesis and interpretation of market and industry specific data to help provide PE firms with the knowledge and insight necessary to make strategic decisions on potential mergers or acquisitions.
Loreen is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a BA in Public Relations and Advertising. While Loreen is a Maryland native, she spent 5 years living in Pittsburgh, PA before settling down in Charlotte, NC with her husband.

Asset Manager – Washington, DC & Cambridge, MD
Brett Summers
As a Partner and NOVO founder, Brett is involved with acquisitions activities, management services, and investor relations in the Washington, DC, Chicago, Il, and Cambridge, MD markets. Brett has been active in the commercial real estate industry since 1985. He began his professional career as a broker with CBRE’s Washington, DC and Tysons Corner offices. In 1993, Brett was recruited by Faison to represent the real estate interests of corporate clients in Northern Virginia. Faison later merged with Trammell Crow Companies. After the merger, Brett continued to participate in commercial real estate brokerage activities but started to acquire and manage multifamily properties in Washington, DC. Brett left Trammell Crow in 2000 to form Anderson + Summers LLC. In 2003 Anderson + Summers LLC merged into NOVO Development Corporation, now known as NOVO Properties. Brett is currently focused on NOVO’s management and investment activities in Chicago and on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the historic town of Cambridge. NOVO is leading efforts to revitalize downtown Cambridge through the acquisition and restoration of six historic mixed use commercial buildings. In addition to his real estate investment activities, Brett is the majority owner of Black Water Bakery also located in Cambridge.

Asset Manager – Chicago, IL
Jamie Glascott
As a Partner and Asset Manager at NOVO, Jamie is responsible for acquiring, financing, leasing, and managing NOVO’s multifamily properties in Chicago. Jamie joined NOVO in 2006 and was the key person in growing the company’s Chicago portfolio from one property, 62 units to nine properties, 400 units. Over the years, Jamie has developed key relationships with local banks, vendors and contractors. In 2022, Jamie was instrumental in acquiring a 79 unit, $18M asset, in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood – NOVO’s largest Chicago acquisition to date.
Jamie is a Licensed Real Estate Sales Broker, certified by the state of Illinois since 2000, and an active member of the Chicago Association of Realtors. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Quincy University. Jamie, a Chicago native, resides in the Park Ridge suburb of Chicago

Darryl Shrock
As a Partner and Asset Manager at NOVO since 2002, Darryl is responsible for acquiring, developing and managing NOVO multifamily properties in the DC Metro area. Darryl also has experience in condominium conversion for NOVO, in acquisition, financing, design, marketing and sales.
Prior to joining NOVO, Darryl worked in marketing positions at American Express and America Online, and account management at Chiat/Day advertising. Darryl has a bachelor’s degree in organizational behavior and management from Brown University and a master’s in business administration from The University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

Neil Goradia

As a Partner at NOVO, Neil brings over 10 years of development experience in multifamily and retail. He focuses on urban infill development and value-add transactions as well as public/private partnerships. Neil is also the Owner and Principal of Tennyson Ventures, a privately held real estate development and investment company with project in DC. Prior to joining NOVO, Neil was a Development Partner at the Bainbridge Companies, a nationally recognized, mixed-use developer, where he financed, constructed, and renovated over 1500 market rate and mixed income units in the DC Metropolitan Area. Prior to working with Bainbridge, Neil served in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development under the Fenty administration as Real Estate Manager.
In this role, he oversaw more than $1billion of capital improvement and real estate projects, including several affordable housing projects and community development initiatives. Neil is well versed in finance, development, design, construction, and municipal finance (LIHTC,NMTC,TIF, and PILOT). Neil earned a Bachelors from James Madison University and earned his MBA in Real Estate and Finance from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

As a Managing Partner of NOVO, Greg is currently responsible for corporate strategy, acquisitions, infill development, and marketing. Greg served on the DC Zoning Commission from 2008-2009, where he directed large-scale developments, including PUD’s, Campus Plans, and Master Planned developments throughout the District of Columbia. Having supervised the acquisition, rehabilitation, and management of over $100M in real estate assets, Greg also led NOVO’s recent ground- up development at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue SE. This project was a 77,000 square foot multi-family development on the eastern entrance to Capitol Hill.
Prior to joining NOVO, Greg was a Principal at D Street Development, a residential and multi-family development company based on Capitol Hill in DC. Greg is well-versed in development, construction, and financial analysis. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Brett Summers

Michelle Reed
VP, Management Services
As VP of Management Services at NOVO, Michelle oversees the operations of 44 properties located in the District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, and Virginia. Michelle is also responsible for all NOVO owned and third-party management initiatives, including the strategic planning and growth of our management organization and the accomplishment of best practices in recruitment, development, operations, customer service, and strategic marketing.
Michelle has more than thirty years of experience in multi-family property management. She was formerly Vice President – Residential Services with Avison Young and was responsible for 2,000 units in Montgomery County, Maryland. Prior to joining Avison Young, she was with McShea Management as Vice President. Michelle helped to grow the McShea third-party property management portfolio from less than 400 units to 2,000 during her tenure. Michelle earned both the Certified Property Manager (CPM®) and Accredited Residential Management (ARM®) designations from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).
She is the Past President of IREM Chapter 92 (2013), Served as a Member of IREM Chapter 92 Board of Directors (2007 – 2019), and Past Chair of IREM Region 3 Education (2018). Michelle was awarded IREM 92 Distinguished Service Award (2015), IREM 92 CPM of the Year (2013) and IREM 92 ARM of the Year (2011). Nicole Coates
SVP, Chief Financial Officer
As the Controller for NOVO, Nicole has overall responsibility for all accounting operations for the organization. Accounting operations include budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, tax audits, treasury/cash management and financial analysis. With more than 20 years of accounting and financial reporting experience she has been instrumental in the enhancement and implementation of internal controls for the company. Prior to joining NOVO, Nicole worked at Carr Properties, a privately held investment trust, as the Controller where she had primary oversight of accounting operations, internal, external and SEC reporting. In this role, Nicole was instrumental in building the infrastructure for bringing all the accounting and property management services in house.
Nicole earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.
